Triangle MicroWorks Joins FREEDM Systems Center

Triangle MicroWorks is now an Industry Member of the FREEDM Systems Center located in Raleigh, NC.  The Future Renewable Electric Energy Delivery and Management (FREEDM) Systems Center is an official Engineering Research Center that is sponsored by the National Science Foundation along with Industry Partners.

The goal of the FREEDM Systems Center is to bring industry and academia together to develop critical technologies for a more reliable, secure, and resilient power grid.  Some of the technologies being researched include energy storage, distributed power systems, Microgrids, and semiconductor based power devices including the Solid-State Transformer.  Triangle MicroWorks will be assisting the FREEDM Systems Center with system integration using standard communication protocols and will also provide communication testing software for power systems using DNP3 and IEC 61850.  The FREEDM Systems Center is headquartered at North Carolina State University and includes university member institutions Arizona State University, Florida State University, Florida A&M University, and Missouri Science and Technology University.
